About me
Growing up, I don’t remember ever really fitting the mould. It was a case of if one foot fits, it’s likely that the other one doesn’t. On top of that, mental health was not a topic of conversation for most of my formative years. That feeling, at least in part, has guided me towards my career as a therapist. I am passionate about creating a society where we can be our whole, integrated and authentic selves.
Today, I am proudly a Black, sex-positive, compassion-based, relational therapist. This isn’t just a collection of buzzwords - it’s a genuine reflection of the many sides that make me who I am. And honestly, that’s just the shortlist.
For me, therapy isn’t about trying to “fix” you. That would imply you’re broken. The very fact that you’re here shows that you have survived life’s challenges. The difficulty is that the survival strategies we developed to keep us safe in childhood can sometimes get in the way of forming healthy relationships with ourselves and others - whether in friendships, romantic relationships, work, or play.
Maybe you find yourself stuck in patterns of people-pleasing, perfectionism, or other unhelpful behaviours. Or perhaps you feel immobilised by grief, depression, or shame. Whatever it is, you’re here because something needs to change.
This belief underpins my work: so much of our growth comes from learning to let go. And we both know that’s easier said than done. So, I’ll ask you this…
Does your life reflect who you truly are - or who you’ve had to be?
This question isn’t just about personal change; it’s about recognising the complex realities that shape your life - including power, community, belonging, and inclusion. We may live side by side, but our worlds can feel very different.
As a therapist, I want to understand not only how you relate to society, but how society relates to you - and how that shapes your experience.
I chose therapy because I don’t believe there’s one right way to live. I’m not here just to support you through difficult times; I’m here to walk alongside you as you explore what living authentically means for you.
Like many, I’ve had moments of doubt and uncertainty - but that’s part of the journey.
Together, we’ll forge a path that feels true to you and supports the life you want to create.
